sollersIt is so nice when something one has looked forward to for months delivers the goods; though in retrospect I'm a bit surprised that <l user="cuvalwen"> didn't jab me in the ribs for bouncing around with glee during the overture to the ENO "Flying Dutchman".
I thoroughly enjoyed the production, which by starting with Senta as a child obsessing over the Dutchman made a lot of sense to me; though it was probably a plus from my point of view that I kept thinking of her in terms of Amy (and Erik as Rory also makes a lot of sense of the character). On another topic, it brought out what a nasty piece of work Daland is..
But the music... the music was awesome. Happy, happy, happy,
