I had intended to post about yesterday earlier, but I was just too tired.

G and I went to Chorley for a Day of Dance with the NW Clog Morris side. It was absolutely excellent, well organised, not too far between the dance spots, tea/coffee and hot cross buns when we got there, sandwiches for lunch that were a ham salad inside a large bread roll, a tempting array of cakes at the end. It rained a little bit towards lunch time, but the weather cleared up after and a very good time was had by all. A good variety: Cotswold, Border, North West Clog, a Cotswold dancer who did an excellent solo jig and a girl of about 9 whose clog stepping was not just good for a girl of 9, it was good.

We got back extremely tired, and I wondered if old age was finally catching up with me. Then I thought about what I had been doing.

Clog Morris is very hard work; we reckoned about 3 times as hard as step aerobics. Most of the time you are either skipping (1 step, 1 hop) or "ranting" (1 step, 2 hops) in clogs with rigid wooden soles, so you can't use your foot to push yourself off; all the work comes from the ankle and knee. It's harder when you go sideways and even harder when you go backwards. So one dance lasting 8 minutes is equivalent to about 24 minutes non-stop step aerobics. That's not a bad session; but I did 8 dances like that.
