The Raggedy Sea Captain; or, Senta, the Girl who Waited

It is so nice when something one has looked forward to for months delivers the goods; though in retrospect I'm a bit surprised that <l user="cuvalwen"> didn't jab me in the ribs for bouncing around with glee during the overture to the ENO "Flying Dutchman".

I thoroughly enjoyed the production, which by starting with Senta as a child obsessing over the Dutchman made a lot of sense to me; though it was probably a plus from my point of view that I kept thinking of her in terms of Amy (and Erik as Rory also makes a lot of sense of the character). On another topic, it brought out what a nasty piece of work Daland is..

But the music... the music was awesome. Happy, happy, happy,

Lucky you. Stuart Skelton is very high on my list of singers to see when I get the chance. (Plus I want a photo opp with Pigmund the Rock Pig)
