My father would be coming up for 100 (April 1913). A century in 2 generations does feel weird certainly. My mother was born during WW1 and my sister during WW2.
We have long female generations in my family. My mother's mother was born, I think, in the 1870s and she was the youngest of 13 so my great-grandmother was probably born around 1840 or earlier.
We're hoping to have a party for my mother's 100th birthday. She said a few months ago that she didn't want to wait around for it, but to have the party anyway. As it is, she didn't quite reach 97 (April this year).
My cousin's father was quite old when she was born and died when she was a child; she knew little about his family. It was great fun finding them on Ancestry, and discovering that he had many brothers and sisters, born between 1870 and 1890!
No' she died in the 1980s, but she's still part of my life. I'm hoping to go over to Belgium some time this year to visit her father's grave, something she and my grandmother had always wanted to do but never managed.
